Efficiency of the European Union farm types: Scenarios with and without the 2013 CAP measures

Abstract The European Union Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) publishes data for the representative farms of several (EU) farm types, regions and countries. In this database, published types allow us to assess agricultural policies. fact, FADN EU farming there are not many studies about these fields in whole context. This study aims bring novelty spectrum stakeholder domains. analysis impacts may relevant insights, especially, adjustments design future strategies plans. We analyse evolution last two decades with significant scenario changes like large common policy (CAP) reforms (2003 2013) suggest new approaches measures. Statistical information from over period 2004–2018 is considered. addition, efficiency productivity assessments carried out, implications most recent instruments CAP. results show that framework 2013 CAP justify use more inputs (or at least higher costs) same level output. subsidies given farmers since 2014 mask inefficiencies underlying some types.
